You are invited to witness the Trine Immersion Baptism, a practice rooted in the earliest centuries of the Christian Church. Widely observed until about the twelfth century, it was renewed by the Brethren in Germany in 1708 and continues to be an important tradition in the Church of the Brethren today.
 
Join us for worship on November 30 at 10:00 a.m., where you will have the opportunity to experience this historic expression of Christian faith.

ADVENT/DECEMBER 2025 SERMONS

Sunday, November 30 – The Prophets: The Candle of Hope
Scripture: Isaiah 9:2–7; Micah 5:2–5a
Sermon: “Holding On to Hope in the Waiting”
Theme:  The prophets of Israel spoke to a people who had lost their way.  Yet into that darkness came words like “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light.”   Today we will consider the prophetic invitation to live with expectant faith.
 
Sunday, December 7 – The Mother, Mary: The Candle of Faith
Scripture: Luke 1:26–38
Sermon: “Saying Yes to God”
Theme:  Mary,  was an ordinary young woman in an ordinary village. Yet God saw in her a heart ready to believe.   Today we will see that faith often begins with that same simple trust: even when we no know what that faith will require of us.
 
Sunday, December 14 – The Angels: The Candle of Joy
Scripture: Luke 2:8–14
Sermon: “Good News for All People”
Theme:   That first Christmas the angels appeared to people who lived on the margins. God’s message of joy is not exclusive. Today’s sermon emphasis is that Good News of the savior’s birth is for all people.

Sunday, December 21 – The Shepherds: The Candle of Love
Scripture: Luke 2:15–20
Sermon: “Love Comes to the Lowly”
Theme:   In this message our attention is drawn to the Shepherds and their response to the good  news announced by the angels that the Savior was born in Bethlehem.

Christmas Eve, December 24 – The Christ Candle: The Light of the World
Scripture: John 1:1–14; Luke 2:1–20
Sermon: “The Light Has Come”
Theme: On this Christmas eve we will consider how the mystery of Christmas is that God did not stay distant. The Word became flesh and dwelt among us and challenges us to let His light shine in our hearts, homes and neighborhoods.

Sunday December 28
Scripture: Matthew 2:1–12
Sermon Title:  “Following the Light: The Journey of the Wise Men”
Theme:   On this Sunday following Christmas we will consider how Christ reveals Himself not only to those near, but to those far off and how the Wise Men’s journey invites us to seek, worship, and give our best to the King.
